Early Release Day - Tuesday, May 10 @ 11:50 a.m.

Aspen Pages

The parent company for Edline will no longer be supporting their product as they migrate to a new platform. We will be taking this opportunity to further move our communication platform under one roof. Aspen Pages and the IMS system will allow students and parents to have access to assignments, calendar, gradebook, and additional resources without leaving Aspen. The teachers will be receiving their initial training tomorrow during our early release day. 

Northeast Regional Student Advisory Council

Congratulations to Junior Danielle LoGuidice for her reelection to the State Student Advisory Council as a member of NERSAC. This is Danielle's third year representing BMHS at the Council.

Sophomore Vanessa Attaya was elected to chair the Northeast Regional Student Advisory Council for the 2016-2017 school year. It will be Vanessa's first year serving in this capacity.

The NERSAC advised the Massachusetts' State Board of Education.

BMHS Building Committee

Lahlaf Geotechnic will be at BMHS this Friday, May 13 to conduct test borings. These borings will be conducted between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The crane used for the borings creates a hole approximately 6 inches wide in diameter to a depth of approximately 60 feet. This will help determine the makeup of the ground material as the engineers prepare for the foundation (footings) work necessary for the spring of 2017.

Perkins + Will and LeftField (OPM - Owner's Project Manager) will be at BMHS tomorrow discussing the plans with the faculty for the new school. This is the second meeting in the last month for the teachers and Perkins + Will as we try to create the optimal learning space.

Spring Community Day

BMHS will be hosting our annual Spring Community Day this Saturday, May 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event is open to students, staff, parents, and community members. Projects include planting flowers, pruning shrubs, spring cleaning in the courtyard, and general school beautification. Donuts and pizza will be served. Signups will take place on the Community Day poster outside of room 1309, or by emailing Mr. Molloy at jmolloy@billericak12.com The morning will begin with an organizational meeting at 8:00 a.m. in Mr. Molloy's room (1309). Hope to you you all there.

Advanced Placement Exams (Week #2)

Monday, May 2 begins the annual two-week examination schedule for the A.P. courses offered at BMHS. Our students will be participating in 20 different A.P. exams with a cumulative total of 489 exams.

Billerica Blast 2016

The Billerica Blast is an annual event for our graduating seniors. It is an event that was established to create a safe environment for our students to spend one last night together absent the challenge of engaging in risky behaviors. There are certain nights during senior year that elevate our parental concern for our children, prom and graduation night are most prominent. Since 1999, our students have enjoyed the Blast. If you were to ask a graduated senior, they would speak to the revelry, camaraderie, and stress free environment that has been created for them. However, this night does not simply happen. The work of parent volunteers and local businesses make this night happen. I would implore everyone, whether your child is graduating this year or not to get involved. Many hands make light work and many hands are needed!
